2020/21 Season Rep Coaches selections
The association is proud to have some returning coaches and some newcomers as well.
U11 (Atom) A1 Head Coach Brent Gillis
For the past 4 years Brent has been coaching hockey in New Westminster. Brent also spent 5+ years working with kids and adults through various hockey schools and camps.
Most of playing career was based in Manitoba where he played 4 years in the Manitoba Jr. A hockey league.
His coaching philosophy is centered around hard work, continuous improvement and having fun. Brent is looking forward to working with the players and helping them continue to develop.
U13 (Peewee) A1 Head Coach John Jessome
John grew up playing on ponds in southern Ontario before his family moved out to BC, where he played most of his minor hockey. John then went onto Junior hockey and then University hockey.
For his team this coming year, he wants to have fun, work hard, play smart, and be one of the top passing teams in our league
U15 (Bantam) A1 Head Coach Jeff Nottingham
Jeff started his hockey coaching back in 1991 after finishing his playing Days in the BCHL and Hockey Canada development programs. He joined his former Coach and GM to help recruit players for the WHL Victoria Cougars in southern Alberta.
Since then he been a head coach from Tyke to Midget A within the PCAHA. He not only brings a wealth of knowledge, but brings a fair and unbiased perspective to all aspects of the game.
Jeff has continued to develop as a coach finishing his Maintenance points to remain Certified with NCCP, his latest courses, Safe Sport Training, Coaching Athletes with a Disabilities.
This Season Jeff plans to use a skills coach to help in the develop of the players skill set. He also plans on bringing in a Defencemen coach to help develop this position.
His season goals include individual player development to achieve confidence and self-esteem, the promotion of team play in a positive environment, teaching respect for each other and the opponents, and lastly encouraging the players to work hard, while at the same time fostering the pure joy the game.
U18 (Midget) Head Coaches Larry Ling with Bill Corbett
"Hello Everyone in New Westminster Royals Nation!! I return for my 4th year in a row alongside Coach Bill Corbett in what will hopefully be another adventurous enjoyable Midget A1 Hockey Season. It has been my honour to be involved with so many great young adults and their families that have made me a much better coach and person. I hope everyone who is a Midget Player this season comes out and competes for a spot on this years team. Don’t ever doubt yourself and push yourself to accomplish your goals and aspirations. All of you can and will accomplish incredible experiences and memories to last a lifetime, so bring your ‘A’ game.
